Exploring the Different Types of CBD

Did you know that one in seven Americans use CBD?

With so many types of CBD products on the market, it’s easier than ever to jump on the CBD bandwagon. Before you try it, though, it’s important to understand the different types of CBD so you can choose the best product for your needs.

We’re here to take the mystery out of buying CBD. Keep reading to learn more about CBD and the best CBD products!

Different Types of CBD

CBD has soared in popularity because of its potential health benefits and the fact that it’s all-natural. Here are the three main categories of CBD products.

CBD Isolate

CBD, or cannabidiol, is one of over 100 chemical compounds in the cannabis plant. You’ve likely heard of another compound, THC, which is famous for the “high” it gives users.

Unlike THC and some other cannabinoids, CBD has no psychoactive properties. This means you can get all of the benefits without the mind-altering effects. And because CBD is now legal in all 50 states, there are no legal concerns about using it either.

For these reasons, some people choose to use CBD isolate, or products that contain only CBD. During production, all of the other cannabinoids are filtered out, leaving only pure CBD behind. You’ll find these products marketed as CBD isolate, zero THC CBD oil, or something similar.

Broad-Spectrum CBD

Broad-spectrum CBD products retain CBD as well as some of the other healthful components of the cannabis plant. However, they contain no THC.

Why would someone choose a broad-spectrum product over CBD isolate? Research suggests that using CBD in conjunction with other cannabinoids produces an entourage effect with more benefits than using CBD on its own.

Full-Spectrum CBD

As the name suggests, broad-spectrum products contain every component of the cannabis plant. This includes CBD as well as small traces of THC and other cannabinoids.

Although there are small amounts of THC present, it’s very unlikely to produce any mind-altering effects.

Types of CBD Products

Now that you can differentiate between the ingredients, let’s talk about your options for CBD products. These include:

  • CBD oils and tinctures (taken orally or under your tongue)
  • CBD edibles (gummies, candies, infused drinks, etc.)
  • CBD topicals (creams, lotions, salves, balms)
  • CBD e-liquid (for vaping)

Ingesting CBD orally through oils or edibles provides benefits for your entire body. Topical products give targeted relief from pain and inflammation — just apply it where it hurts! For those who prefer to vape, you can buy e-liquids infused with CBD for your vape pen.

Which CBD Types Are Right for You?

Now that you know more about the different types of CBD, which product will you choose?

You may want to experiment with isolate, broad-spectrum, and full-spectrum products to see which one your body responds best to. The same is true for oils, edibles, and topicals, as they each bring their own set of benefits.
